This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) relates to personal data collected, used, stored, disclosed and/or processed by Tamil Class Singapore (referred to as “Tamil Class”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

Tamil Class is committed to respecting your privacy and we aim to maintain a high level of trust with all clients, vendors and prospective clients and vendors by adhering to the principles of applicable data protection and privacy laws.

This Policy is based on the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”) and all the associated regulations and guidelines as may from time to time be issued by the Personal Data Protection Commission (“PDPC”) of Singapore.

1. WHAT WE COLLECT

In order to render our tuition and educational services to you, we may collect your personal data from you, your family members and any third party as well as from our completed registration and enquiry forms. Personal Data which we collect includes, without limitation: –

  • (a) names, identification particulars, nationality, gender, date of birth;

  • (b) contact details such as emails, mailing addresses and telephone numbers;

  • (c) educational information (such as current school, level, and academic results);

  • (d) family information (for example, parent/guardian details or other siblings enrolled in our classes);

  • (e) health information (where relevant, such as medical conditions or allergies you may notify us of);

  • (f) payment details such as bank account information, PayNow details, or transaction histories; and

  • (g) photographs, audio recordings or video footage of you or your child (individually or with others) recorded during lessons, online classes, or events organised by us (both within and outside our premises).

2. PURPOSES FOR COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL DATA

You agree and acknowledge that we may collect and use your Personal Data for the purposes of:

  • (a) performing, rendering, and managing the tuition and educational services requested by you;

  • (b) managing your student or client relationship with us;

  • (c) creating user accounts, granting access to student/parent portals or learning management platforms, and handling password resetting and recovery processes;

  • (d) providing you with customised learning updates, progress reports, and educational recommendations;

  • (e) responding to, handling, and processing queries, requests, applications, complaints, and feedback from you;

  • (f) providing and facilitating administrative support, technical assistance and notifications/reminders regarding class schedules and fees;

  • (g) processing payments (including PayNow, bank transfers, GIRO, or credit card transactions);

  • (h) sending you information about our curriculum, holiday programs, school calendar, and center closures;

  • (i) facilitating service refinements via customer feedback, data analysis, and market research;

  • (j) carrying out and enabling internal and external audits;

  • (k) recording and monitoring calls, virtual classes, and electronic communications for quality and training purposes;

  • (l) analysing your use of our website;

  • (m) enforcing or defending the rights of Tamil Class, its management, teachers, and employees;

  • (n) meeting legal, regulatory and other requirements including providing assistance to law enforcement, judicial and other government agencies; and

  • (o) any other incidental business purpose related to or in connection with the above.

3. DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL DATA

Tamil Class may disclose Personal Data to:

  • (a) third-party service providers, agents or contractors engaged to perform any of the above-listed purposes for Tamil Class (such as IT hosting providers, payment processors, or learning platform developers);

  • (b) professional advisors;

  • (c) any person to whom disclosure is required under applicable laws or regulations; and

  • (d) any court, tribunal, regulator, or other authority to whom disclosure is necessary under applicable laws or regulations.

4. TRANSFER OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We have taken steps to ensure that appropriate levels of protection necessary to maintain the security and integrity of your personal data are in place for any transfers of personal data outside of Singapore. In addition, any data transferred outside of Singapore is processed only in accordance with the PDPA and any other applicable law.

5. RETENTION OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We will retain Personal Data for as long as it is required to fulfil the purposes for which such data was collected and our business purposes, or as is otherwise required under the PDPA and any other applicable laws.

6. RIGHT OF ACCESS AND CORRECTION

If you wish to access any information that you provide to us, or make corrections (including updates) to your information, please send your request to our Data Protection Officer (refer to the contact details provided below).

Tamil Class reserves the right to charge an administrative fee before we provide a copy of your Personal Data or accede to any of your access requests.

7. THIRD PARTY WEBSITES

Our website may contain links to (and from) other third-party websites. Please note that we do not own or have any control over these websites and the manner in which and purposes for which your personal data may be collected, used, disclosed and/or processed by the operators of these websites. To the maximum extent permissible by law, we do not accept any responsibility or liability for any loss or damage suffered if you access these websites.

8. USE OF COOKIES

Cookies are data files that contain and collect data. When you visit our website, we may assign your computer one or more “cookies”. This helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website.​

We will not collect any personal data from you under this circumstance. You have a choice as to whether to accept all cookies or only essential cookies, but if you choose not to accept any cookies or only essential cookies, certain functions may not be available, or the website may not operate at an optimal level.

You are entitled to withdraw your consent at any time. If you wish to withdraw your consent, please send your request to the Data Protection Officer (refer to the contact details provided below).

Depending on the circumstances and the nature or extent of your withdrawal, the withdrawal of your consent may result in us not being able to provide tuition or educational services to you or your child, and we shall, in such circumstances, notify you before completing the processing of your request. Should you decide to cancel your consent withdrawal request, please inform the Data Protection Officer through the same contact method found below.

Upon receipt of your written request to withdraw your consent, we may require reasonable time (depending on the complexity of the request and its impact on our relationship with you) for your request to be processed and for us to notify you of the consequences of us acceding to the same, including any legal consequences which may affect your rights and liabilities to us.

If you provide us with Personal Data of another person (such as your child, spouse, or emergency contact), you confirm that you have obtained their consent to disclose their Personal Data to us for the purposes stated above.

10. ACCURACY

When providing any Personal Data to us, you should ensure that such Personal Data is accurate and complete. Please let us know if there are any changes or updates to any Personal Data provided to us so that we do not hold any inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data.

11. DATA SECURITY

Whilst all reasonable measures will be taken to secure and protect the Personal Data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure, you understand and accept that we cannot and do not guarantee that we would be able to prevent such unauthorised access or disclosure in all instances.

12. CHANGES TO POLICY

Tamil Class reserves the right to amend this Policy at any time and without prior notice to you. The latest version of this Policy is always available on our website. Please review this Policy from time to time so you are aware of any changes or updates to the notice.

13. GOVERNING LAW

This Policy is governed by the laws of Singapore. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Singapore in any dispute relating to this Policy.

14. EXCLUSION OF THIRD PARTIES

A person or entity who/which is not a party to this Policy shall not have any right to enforce any terms herein whether under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 or otherwise.
